PITTSFORD, N.Y. – With Oak Hill still wet from Friday’s deluge, officials hope the course presents a sterner test for Round 3 at the PGA Championship with an assist from Mother Nature and some less-than-inviting hole locations.
Saturday’s forecast is for clear skies, temperatures in the low 70s and winds that will reach 15 mph by the time front-runner Jason Dufner tees off at 2:55 p.m.
The soft greens also prompted officials to tuck some of the hole locations, including the pins on Nos. 15, which is 31 paces deep and 5 paces from the right edge, and 18, located just onto the putting surface and 4 paces from the right edge.
The hole locations on Oak Hill’s two par 5s, Nos. 4 and 13, also could make for a challenging birdie look if Saturday’s winds dry the course as officials anticipate.
