Something old something new

Much was made of Graeme McDowell’s “contract year” jump from Callaway to Srixon/Cleveland Golf, a move some questioned following McDowell’s breakthrough 2010, but the new sticks didn’t seem to hurt the Northern Irishman on Sunday at Kapalua.

McDowell, whose new deal is to play 10 Srixon/Cleveland clubs sources say, closed with a course-record 62 and finished one stroke behind eventual winner Jonathan Byrd and Robert Garrigus.

Interesting, however, that Byrd also was coming off a “contract year” with Mizuno, but re-signed a three-year deal with the company in the off-season giving the status quo an early victory.
