PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Tom Watson has a memorable Father’s Day planned.
Sunday could be his last U.S. Open – unless he wins a U.S. Senior Open – and he’ll play it at Pebble Beach, a course he loves. The experience will be even richer with his son, Michael, on his bag as caddie. Watson won the U.S. Open here on a Father’s Day in 1982.
“It does complete the circle,” Watson said. “That's a good way of putting it. Winning here in '82 and calling my dad on Father's Day, and then having my son caddie for me here when I'm 60 years old. That's pretty special. It's a special, special one.”
Watson's not likely to play in another U.S. Open, but if he wins a U.S. Senior Open, he'll qualify for another.
'That's my goal,' Watson said. 'I've never won that.'
