BETHESDA, Md. – When the second round of the AT&T National was suspended Friday afternoon, Jordan Spieth and Roberto Castro were atop the leaderboard.
When it finally ended Saturday morning, they still were.
Spieth and Castro, each in search of a first PGA Tour victory, will be joined by Andres Romero (one stroke back) in the final tee time of the third round, as players will compete in threesomes off two tees in order to complete the round before sundown. They will begin at 12:50 p.m. ET.
D.H. Lee, Jason Kokrak and Nicolas Colsaerts will play in the penultimate group at 12:40.
Patrick Reed, who tied a Congressional Country Club record with a 6-under 29 on the back nine (his opening side) Friday, closed with seven pars and a birdie Saturday morning to post a tournament-best 64.
The second round was suspended at 2:44 p.m. Friday afternoon and wasn't resumed until Saturday. With little chance for thunderstorms in the forecast, the tournament should be back on schedule by day's end.
