Spieth rebounds with 67, ties for 4th at Pebble

RSS

After a third-round 78 seemingly dropped him out of contention, Jordan Spieth signed his card and made a beeline for the putting green Sunday morning at Pebble Beach.

Must have been a quick fix.

Spieth made an eagle and three birdies on his way to a bogey-free 67 in the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He finished in a tie for fourth, three shots behind winner Jimmy Walker

Staked to a share of the 36-hole lead in his second consecutive start, Spieth had six three-putts during his third round that wasn’t completed until Sunday morning. That matched his entire total during the 2013-14 wraparound season.

Spieth kick-started his final round with an eagle-3 on No. 2, then tacked on birdies on 9, 16 and 18. It was his second top-10 finish in five starts this season, following a runner-up at Kapalua.

The reigning Rookie of the Year clearly got the bad end of the draw, as he played in the worst of the weather Saturday at Pebble Beach, the most difficult course in the rota. During his third-round 78, he made seven bogeys, a double bogey and three birdies.
