WINDERMERE, Fla. – Even with star-in-waiting Lexi Thompson providing moral support from the sidelines, LSU couldn’t catch Texas at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday.
The Longhorns cruised to the team title, finishing at 8-under 856, while LSU was second at 18 over par. Thompson was on hand to watch her brother, who is a freshman at LSU and finished tied for 40th.
Jordan Spieth led Texas with rounds of 65-73-67 to take medalist honors. He finished eight strokes ahead of teammate Dylan Frittelli. Alabama’s Justin Thomas matched Spieth’s closing 67 and was alone in third place.
