Stanley no surprise

Got a call from a member of Kyle Stanley’s camp this morning who pointed out two interesting facts about the unknown quantity pacing the field at the Honda Classic – he plays his best golf on the toughest courses and sports a sneaky-good pedigree.

Stanley, who leads Rory Sabbatini by one stroke at 6 under at PGA National where Friday’s scoring average was 72.307, made the cut as an amateur at the 2009 U.S. Open at demanding Bethpage.

He also holds 19 different school records at Clemson, not a bad accomplishment considering Clemson’s list of Tour players includes the likes of Lucas Glover, Jonathan Byrd and D.J. Trahan.
