Stenson confident after best finish of 2014 at Bay Hill

RSS

ORLANDO, Fla. – Henrik Stenson was right: There was no cause for concern about his sluggish start to 2014.

The world No. 3, who enjoyed a career year in 2013 when he won the end-of-season prizes on both the PGA and European tours, tied for fifth at Bay Hill to record his best finish of the season. Prior to this week, he hadn’t finished inside the top 15 in six starts this year.

“It’s nice to get a good tournament in,” he said Sunday. “Sometimes you don’t need to necessarily be where you want to be two to three weeks before a big tournament. It can turn around quickly when you get the confidence in this game.”

On the weekend, Stenson missed only three fairways and shot 69-68 to surge up the leaderboard. During the final round, he hit 17 greens, and his only miss was by a few inches.

For the week, though, Stenson was 73rd (out of 76) in putting, taking a whopping 127putts, including 35 swipes on Day 2.
