RSS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Play was halted at the Wells Fargo Championship at 10:51 a.m. (ET) because of a line of storms that was descending on the golf course.

Bill Haas was still in the lead at 9 under through 13 holes but Phil Mickelson had closed the gap, playing his first 13 holes on Friday in 5 under to move within a stroke of the top spot.

When the horn sounded Mickelson, who teed off on the back nine, had just hit his drive at the par-5 fifth hole, which had sailed into the right trees.

The practice reopened at 11:30 a.m. and officials announced a 12:15 p.m. restart..
