Storm halts play at U.S. Open

RSS

BETHESDA, Md. – A fast-moving storm cell has halted play at the U.S. Open with the afternoon wave about halfway through the second round.

The weather warning horn blew at 4:04 p.m. (ET) and the storm was expected to last about 45 minutes.

Rory McIlroy completed his round more than two hours before the delay and was cruising at 11 under, although Y.E. Yang had cut his lead to six strokes with a front-nine 34.
