Strange days in Tucson

MARANA, Ariz. – The PGA Tour’s meteorologist said an inch of snow fell on Dove Mountain early Sunday but most had already melted away as the 12:20 p.m. (MT) tee time approached for finalist Martin Kaymer and Luke Donald.

But as the snow melted Dove Mountain’s normally firm and fast fairways became soggy (advantage Kaymer) and prompted “Shag Bag” to ask one question we never thought we would in the Arizona desert: Will the Tour play lift-clean-and-place rules for the 18-hole final?

According to Tour official Mark Russell they will not, but that we had to ask certainly caps a bizarre week.
