ATLANTA – Recall that semi-retired Steve Stricker struggled with whether he would play the Tour Championship, opting eventually to not pass on the finale and the chance to win the $10 million FedEx Cup lottery ticket.
Stricker added the Deutsche Bank Championship and BMW Championship to his schedule late in the season to secure his spot on the U.S. Presidents Cup team, but when he finished second at TPC Boston and tied for fourth at the BMW he decided to cancel an Elk hunting trip with some friends to Colorado and play the finale.
Asked on Wednesday at East Lake if his friends still planned to go hunting he smiled, “Oh yeah. They’ve been giving me the business all week.”
Stricker said his friends plan to keep him updated on how things are going in Colorado during the week, which may make things difficult. Of course, a $10 million check on Sunday would probably make up for that.
