Swing state Els and Harmon part ways

NORTON, Mass. – Ernie Els has broken off his arrangement with swing coach Butch Harmon.

“We’re not officially working together now, but I know, and he knows, if I need something I can go to him,” Els said before his pro-am round Thursday at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

After tying for second last week at The Barclays, Els credited Harmon for his recent run of good outings, but Els said he’s going it alone for the time being.

At the PGA Championship, Adam Scott reported he and Harmon were “taking a break.” Harmon’s other high-profile students include Phil Mickelson, Stewart Cink and Nick Watney.
