Switching channels inside the ropes

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Aaron Watkins isn’t a household name on the PGA Tour, but he was an attraction for the few fans out watching players hit balls Wednesday at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic.

Watkins sports a golf bag with a small television screen on the bottom of the bag. The screen flashes advertisements from sponsors and promotions for charities.

“I get people asking if I can tune in a football game for them,” Watkins said.

Watkins can’t tune in games. It’s not that kind of TV. Pro Bag Ads provide the TV feature. Michael Allen and Michael Bradley also are carrying TV screens on their bags with rotating ads this week.

For traditionalists, it might be too much, but it’s proving good business for Tour pros.
