DORAL, Fla. – While the golf world waits for one player to commit to the Tavistock Cup, the annual cross-town grudge match between Tour pros from Lake Nona and Isleworth, one guy left no doubt about his status for the March 22-23 event which will be played at Isleworth.
Defending champion Graeme McDowell is looking forward to the event with or without Tiger Woods, who may play the unofficial 10-man event depending on which media reports you believe.
“That’s if I can make the team. There are a lot of good players living at Lake Nona now,” McDowell joked. “We’ve got 19 yeses and are waiting on the 20th from our boy TW.”
First, however, the Northern Irishman has to finish strong on Sunday at Doral. He’s currently 50th in the World Golf Ranking and needs to stay inside the top 50 to land a spot at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
“It would be nice (to play the API). It’s my home town event,” he said.
