Teen craze continues at US Womens Open


OAKMONT, Pa. – Twenty-three teenagers are in the field of 156 players at this week’s U.S. Women’s Open.

Eleven of them are under 18.

At 14 years, 4 months and 27 days old, Yueer Feng of Orlando, Fla., is the youngest player in the field. She was also the youngest in last year’s field.

Alexis Thompson of Coral Springs, Fla., is 15, but she’s playing in her fourth consecutive U.S. Women’s Open, this time as a pro. It’s her sixth major championship appearance. She played her way into all four U.S. Women's Opens through qualifiers.
