Texas slow-step

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Last we saw Chad Campbell he was pale, in pain and probably not going to be on Tour anytime soon. A few short weeks later, along with a ton of ice and plenty of stretching, the Texan returns for this week’s U.S. Open.

Campbell, who withdrew from the Crowne Plaza Invitational last month after he suffered a strained left calf muscle hitting out of a sand tap, walked 18 holes on Tuesday at Bethpage Black without incident.

“I’ll just have to walk a little slower,” smiled Campbell. “Shouldn’t be a problem around here.”
