CHASKA, Minn. – Colin Montgomerie is scheduled to address the media this morning at Hazeltine National and “Shag Bag” has learned the Scot planned to speak with Sandy Lyle before the press conference in an attempt to put the duo’s high-profile spat behind them.
The two Scots were involved in a very public debate at the Open Championship when Lyle reintroduced Montgomerie’s brush with a rules violation at an event in 2005.
Lyle seemed to make things worse when he tried to clarify his point at Turnberry. Lyle later tried to apologize to Montgomerie but the Scot was having no part of it.
The two may finally be ready to put the issue behind them. Stay tuned.
