Road-weary PGA Tour types get a rare breather this week before finishing out the regular season at the Tour Championship next week followed by a direct flight to Wales for the Ryder Cup. At least that’s the plan on paper.
Dustin Johnson, winner of Sunday’s BMW Championship, has played five of the last six weeks, will be a favorite heading into the finale and may see five matches at the Ryder Cup, yet he wasn’t headed home to South Carolina late Sunday from Chicago.
Johnson was scheduled to spend Monday and Tuesday in Chicago for sponsor photo shoots before he could take a breather.
It’s not a 162-game schedule, but golf has created its own kind of grind.
