Three times the charm for Tiger

As expected, Tiger Woods committed on Friday to playing the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational next week at Firestone Country Club.

With Woods playing the Buick Open this week, that means Woods will be teeing it up three consecutive weeks when he plays the PGA Championship at Hazeltine Aug. 13-16.

Woods has never played three in a row with a major championship the anchor leg.

It’s hardly a surprise Woods will play a World Golf Championship event, or that he’ll play Firestone. Woods has won 15 WGC events. He will be looking to win for the seventh time at Firestone, which would equal Torrey Pines as home to his most PGA Tour titles.
After missing the cut at the British Open, it appears Woods is amping up his work in a bid to win his 15th major. Woods tied for sixth at both the Masters and the U.S. Open. Failure to win the PGA will make this the first year he hasn't won at least one major since 2004.
