Tiger on maybe his best roll ever

RSS

CHASKA, Minn. – As I watch Tiger Woods continue to roll in his third of three straight weeks of golf, I am reminded of a time when he was on a similar roll. A few years ago, Tiger entered the Accenture Match Play Championship trying to extend his PGA Tour winning streak to eight.

I was conducting a Q&A with Woods for a select batch of Accenture clients and associates on the eve of his second-round match. I opened by reminding Tiger of his stretch of six consecutive wins in 1999-2000. I asked him if he had ever fathomed being in this position again. Not even a millisecond had passed before he retorted, 'Uh huh.' He paused. I waited. Then he added, 'You'll never get there if you don't believe you can.'

Tiger is on the verge of another bust-out run and this one, in my opinion, is potentially his most impressive, because it's happening only a year after reconstructive ACL surgery.
