Tiger texts Federer

Tiger Woods’ world-beating stablemate Roger Federer went down in five sets Monday to Argentine Juan Martin del Potro. Woods and Federer are serial text messengers and we can’t help but wonder what pearls of wisdom he offered Federer:

-“You think Arthur Ashe Stadium was tough, see how many forehand smashes you can pull off at that mud puddle called Bethpage Black.”

-“Not sure you noticed, but I won the BMW Championship by 40 strokes . . . or something like that.”

-“Four hours and six minutes (the length of Monday’s match), you’re lucky John Paramor wasn’t around with his stop watch.”

-“You think Martin del Potro had a devastating forehand, you should have seen Y.E. Yang’s put away shot at No. 14 on Sunday at the PGA.”

-“No worries, my man. I’ve booted a major to an Argentine and my guy walked like a duck and chain smoked his way to that U.S. Open at Oakmont.”
