BETHESDA, Md. – Of all the stats that stand out from Tiger Woods’ opening 64, 12 of 14 fairways hit is always an eye-catcher, perhaps the most telling line was that tie for second in the “putts made” category.
On Thursday at Congressional Woods made eight putts over 5 feet and four over 10 feet. By comparison, heading into AT&T National Woods was a combined 16 for 50 (tied for 66th on Tour) on putts from 10 to 15 feet.
Seems that putter, the one that Woods said took a bath after its pedestrian performance at Bethpage, has learned its lesson.
