AKRON, Ohio – In the third round since his return from injury, Tiger Woods' score increased once again at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Saturday.
Woods posted four bogeys and just two birdies in shooting a third-round 2-over 72 that left him at 1 over for the tournament entering the final day.
While he stated afterward that his distance control continues to improve, Woods struggled off the tee and on the greens.
He hit just 4 of 14 fairways – and none on the front nine – admitting afterward that he's having problems 'with setup alignments' because he's hitting the ball straighter.
He also needed 33 putts – four more than his second-round total – including three on the 18th green, where he finished with bogey.
'Unfortunately, I'm not there battling with a chance to win,' Woods said, 'but I'm just going to go out there and compete tomorrow.'
