Tim Clark and Corey Pavin kindred spirits

RSS

SAN FRANCISCO – Tim Clark keeps building on his reputation as the best player who hasn't won a PGA Tour event.

International captain Greg Norman had high praise for Clark after Saturday’s play at the Presidents Cup.

Clark will probably earn some more if he builds on his early Sunday singles lead. Clark rolled in a 25-foot birdie putt at the second hole to go 2 up after two holes in his match with Zach Johnson.

“There’s no more gutsier player than Tim Clark,” Norman said. “He actually reminds me of a modern-day version of Corey Pavin. Corey was always such a tenacious player, and I never thought there was a shot he couldn’t hit, even though he was probably one of the shortest [hitting] guys in the field. Timmy is not short by any means, but he’s just a gutsy guy. He wants the bit between his teeth.”
