'Time for Nine' campaign to encourage 9-hole rounds

With leisure time dwindling, fewer and fewer golfers can find the time to play 18 holes.

That’s OK.

Golf Digest – with support from the PGA of America and USGA – has created a new “Time for Nine” initiative that encourages golfers to play more nine-hole rounds.

Their simple message: Nine holes are better than nothing.

In coming weeks, Golf Digest will publish a list of nine-hole-friendly courses on its website. To submit a course, send an email to editors@golfdigest.com, 9isfine@pga.com or Timefor9@usga.org.

For the USGA, this initiative is part of its ongoing program to fix the pace-of-play problem in golf. Nine-hole rounds are compatible with both the Rules of Golf and the USGA Handicap System. (To calculate a nine-hole handicap, go to www.usga.org/play9.)
