Dylan Frittelli, the University of Texas senior who sank the winning putt to clinch the NCAA championship for the Longhorns this month, has turned pro.
During his senior year in Austin, Frittelli, 22, earned first-team All-American honors and was recipient of the 2012 Byron Nelson Award, given to the collegiate golfer with the best playing, academic and community service record.
Two weeks ago at Riviera CC, Frittelli sank a 30-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to win his match against the University of Alabama's Cory Whitsett. The victory secured the NCAA Championship with a 3-2 team win over the Crimson Tide. It was the first national title for the school since 1972.
