More so than almost any other tournament Disney has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to compelling story lines. Up for grabs this week is the final chance to finish inside the top 150 in earnings (exemption to final stage of Q-School and limited Tour status in 2011), top 125 (2011 PGA Tour card), top 70 (exemptions into all invitationals) and top 30 (a Masers invitation).
Each day GolfChannel.com will track this year’s “Bubble Boys.”
Johnson Wagner (T-7, projected earnings 141st) – After a clutch 65 on Friday, held it steady again on Saturday. With low scoring at Disney, Wagner will need one more good round to keep himself inside the loop.
Brett Quigley (T-15, projected earnings 153rd) – Will need to make a little move in the final round to jump just inside the top 150. Late bogey at the 16th could have cost him precious ground.
Roland Thatcher (Leading, projected earnings 80th) – Despite a double-bogey, bogey finish, Thatcher has stayed on track in his improbable run at retaining his Tour card for 2011. He needs to win or place second to vault from all the way down at 179th on the money list.
Mark Wilson (T-7, projected earnings 125th) – His third-straight sub-70 has lifted him - momentarily - to the exact spot of 125. And most likely he will need a fourth sub-70 round to make it happen.
Heath Slocum (T-57, projected money 31st) – The recent The McGladrey Classic
champion posted a 1-over 73 and it cost him dearly, dropping one spot in the projected standings to 31st. Every shot will count come Sunday afternoon at Disney.
J.B. Holmes (T-40, projected money 30th) – The long-hitting Holmes stumbled with a 1-over 73 on Saturday and now finds himself sitting at the projected 30th spot on the money list. A trip to Augusta National hangs in the balance.
