The True South Classic has identified a group of five primary sponsors for the Mississippi-based event, according to The Associated Press.
Four state-based medical organizations — NewSouth NeuroSpine, Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, Jackson Heart Clinic and GI Associates and Endoscopy Center — will be primary sponsors, along with Trustmark Bank.
The deal is for one year with an option for two more years, according to the Mississippi Business Journal.
Needing approximately $4 million to run the event, tournament director John Marovich said the PGA Tour has provided approximately half of the funding.
The tournament has been a part of the PGA Tour schedule since 1968. Originally known as the Magnolia Classic, it was played opposite the Masters until 1994, then opposite the British Open. The 2012 edition will be played July 16-22 at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss., opposite the British Open.
