U.S. Am champion Kraft turning pro

A day after closing at the Masters with a final-round 80, 2011 U.S. Amateur champion Kelly Kraft will turn pro Monday.

The 23-year-old Kraft will compete in the Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am in Myrtle Beach, S.C., to mark his pro debut.

A product of Southern Methodist University, Kraft will make his PGA Tour debut as a professional at the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. The drive from his home in Dallas is about four hours.

'It will be pretty easy to get there. I think I will be a little more comfortable playing closer to home. You know, I'm just ready to kind of start my career and get doing,' Kraft said Saturday.

Beyond the Texas Open, Kraft anticipates playing in the HP Byron Nelson Championship and Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, as well as likely exemptions into the Memorial and the AT&T National.
