ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – U.S. captain Meg Mallon will take the youngest American team in the history of the Solheim Cup to Colorado Golf Club in two weeks.
The American and European teams were announced Sunday night at the conclusion of the Ricoh Women’s British Open.
The American team’s average age is 26.3.
Thompson, 18, will be the youngest American ever to play in the Solheim Cup.
The Americans will feature four Solheim Cup rookies: Thompson, Korda, Salas and Piller.
The Europeans will also take a young team to Colorado in their bid to win for the first time on American soil. The average age is 27.6 with six Solheim Cup rookies on the roster, including 17-year-old Charley Hull of England, who will be the youngest participant in the history of the Solheim Cup.
The six Euro Solheim Cup rookies are Ciganda, Masson, Recari, Sergas, Hull and Shadoff.
