SAN FRANCISCO – Tiger Woods can vault to No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking with a victory in the U.S. Open, but he cant get to No. 1 yet, according to OWGR projections.
Woods can get to No. 2 if he wins this week as long as Lee Westwood finishes worse than solo second and Rory McIlroy finishes outside the top 10.
World No. 1 Luke Donald is assured of staying atop the rankings unless Westwood or McIlroy win.
If Westwood wins, Donald would have to finish solo 58th or better to hold the top spot. If McIlroy wins, Donald must finish solo third or better to hold the top spot.
