USC is staked to a comfortable lead after a record-setting day at the NCAA Women’s Championship.
The No. 1-ranked Trojans fired a tournament-record 12-under 276 Wednesday to build a 12-shot lead over defending champion Alabama. They are at 16-under 560 after two rounds.
Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow, the No. 1-ranked player in Golfstat’s rankings, has a one-shot lead in the individual race. She shot rounds of 69-67 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., to post 8-under 136, one shot ahead of USC’s Annie Park, who is No. 2 in Golfstat’s rankings.
Park’s 5-under round helped pace USC, but the Trojans also received big boosts from Kyung Kim (69), Rachel Morris (70) and Sophia Popov (70).
Duke is third in the team race, 15 shots behind USC.
The four-round tournament ends Friday.
