Vacation means rest not golf

BETHESDA, Md. – Seems the world’s best golfer has little interest in playing the world’s best golf courses.

Tiger Woods was asked on Friday following his second-round 66 at Congressional if he’d ever played Pine Valley in New Jersey, perennially a top-ranked layout in most national ratings.

“I've never played Pine Valley, never played Seminole (Florida), Merion (Pennsylvania),” Woods said. “I don't play golf on my vacations. I get away from it and I'm at home. I'd never, ever have a golfing vacation because it's not interesting for me to go out there and do that.”

Which, in true golf writer fashion, prompted an obvious follow up: “They'd comp (complimentary round) you, though, wouldn't they?” a scribe asked.

“Maybe,” Woods smiled.
