Watson joins in Japan relief effort

RSS

Bubba Watson is the latest PGA Tour player to help the American Red Cross with a donation for Japan in the wake of its recent tragedy.

After tapping in for his final-round 68 at the Transitions Championship, Watson found a PGA Tour official on property and handed him a $50,000 check for the Red Cross in an effort to aid the cause.

Ryuji Imada, a native of Japan, raised awareness with his fellow Transitions Championship competitors earlier in the week by leaving a handwritten note in each player's locker saying he would donate $1,000 for every birdie he made in the tournament, and would appreciate others doing the same.

Several players joined in the relief effort, including K.J. Choi, who notably pledged $100,000.
