Watson, Stricker, Simpson grouped at Zurich

Bubba Watson’s first competitive round back on the PGA Tour following his Masters victory will be at the Zurich Classic with Steve Stricker and Webb Simpson, the man Watson defeated last year in a playoff to win the event. The trio will go off the 10th tee at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Watson overcame a three-stroke deficit over the final eight holes of regulation to get into the playoff with Simpson, who was assessed a one-stroke penalty on No. 15 when his ball moved as he was addressing it on the green, less than a foot from the hole. Watson won when he made birdie on the second playoff hole.

Right behind Watson, Stricker and Simpson is another star-studded group with Graeme McDowell, Justin Rose and Ben Curtis, last week’s winner at the Valero Texas Open.

Luke Donald has a chance to take the No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking again this week and surpass Rory McIlroy. Donald is paired with Keegan Bradley and K.J. Choi, the 2002 Zurich Classic winner. They go off the first tee at 1:30 p.m. ET and are followed by Nick Watney, Ernie Els and Louisiana native David Toms.
