PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Tom Watson provided one of the more colorful descriptions of the poa annua grass on the greens at Pebble Beach.
“These greens are like putting over a herd of turtles,” Watson said after a round of 1-under-par 70 Saturday.
While Sunday's finish will likely be Watson’s last U.S. Open, he has a busy schedule of majors this summer.
“This is the second of six majors in a row for me,” he said.
His consecutive run of majors includes the Senior PGA and this U.S. Open and is scheduled to include the British Open, the British Senior Open, the U.S. Senior Open and The Tradition.
“That’s my schedule up through the middle of August,” Watson said.
