Watson's first pitch rained out at Yankee Stadium

CROMWELL, Conn. – Bubba Watson’s second-round 67 moved him into the lead at the Travelers Championship, which was at least some consolation for getting rained out Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.

Watson was scheduled to throw out the first pitch in New York’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but the game was rained out. While some might sweat a ceremonial first pitch, Watson said Friday he wasn’t nervous about his Bronx debut.

“What would I be nervous about? Just throw out a ball,” Watson said.

Watson was also dismissive when asked if he prepared for the big moment.

“What would I practice for? It's just a baseball. Again, I said we were athletes,” he laughed.

Watson pointed out he played baseball for 15 years and his father wanted him to someday pitch in the big leagues, preferably for the Yankees.

“I was one of the best,” he said.
