Westwood's hand OK, but four shots off the lead

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Early in his third round on Saturday at The Players, Lee Westwood scraped his hand across a tree while hitting his approach at the first hole and seemed to favor the injury throughout his round.

The Englishman double bogeyed the hole, and added another double at the fourth hole, on his way to a 74, but his manager with International Sports Management said Westwood was not seriously injured.

“He just jarred it,” ISM chief Chubby Chandler said via text message. “It was tender for a couple of holes then fine.”

Westwood finished the weather-delayed third round tied for 10th place at 7 under and four strokes out of the lead.
