Where are all the roars

RSS

AUGUSTA, Ga. – What a pleasant stroll on the front nine Friday at the Masters.

Way too pleasant.

You could hear birds chirping and the straw crunching under your feet.

What you aren’t hearing are any roars. What a quiet second round it’s been so far after Thursday’s fireworks. Everyone's now out on the course.

Tough pin placements are obviously a factor. Players are getting a quick taste of what’s ahead at No. 1. The pin is tucked front-left, the toughest pin location at that hole.

The entire field’s now played that first hole. Of the 96 players who have passed, only three have made birdies ( Lucas Glover, Steve Marino, Ryan Moore), 34 have made bogeys and five have made double bogeys.
