Which was the best major of 2012?

As we put another major championship season to rest, it’s time to reflect on the year’s action.

Bubba Watson won the Masters in a playoff over Louis Oosthuizen when he hit a Seve-esque hook shot from pine straw to 10 feet on the second playoff hole.

Webb Simpson stayed steady Sunday and was on the receiving end of Jim Furyk’s final-round collapse at the U.S. Open at The Olympic Club.

Ernie Els’ British Open title was won in similar fashion, when Adam Scott bogeyed his final four holes to lose to The Big Easy by one. The victory at Royal Lytham & St. Annes was Els’ fourth major and second British.

And the most recent major champion, Rory McIlroy, won the PGA Championship by eight strokes – the same margin he won by at the U.S. Open at Congressional a year ago.

Those were the highlights, but not the only criterion by which you need to base your decision. We ask: what was the best major of the year?
