KOHLER, Wis. – Michelle Wie remains a work in progress.
Tied for second after shooting 66 Friday at the U.S. Women’s Open, Wie shot 78-80 on the weekend and was tied for 34th when she left the scoring trailer.
“It was one of the most frustrating rounds for me,” Wie said after the final round. “I just didn’t feel comfortable with my long game.”
Wie hit just nine greens in regulation, fewest she hit all week. She also took 33 putts, 10 more than she did in Friday’s stellar round.
Wie will tee it up next at the Evian Masters in three weeks.
“Obviously, there were a lot of positives this week that I will take away,” Wie said. “There are some things I need to work on, but at the same time, this week was a definite confidence boost for me. Being in contention again, it didn't work out for me today, but just being up there, in contention, kind of got my juices flowing and kind of made me want it more.”
