Wie vs History at age 20

Michelle Wie’s opening round Thursday at the Tres Marias Championship positions her early for a shot at her second LPGA title.

Wie seems like she’s been around forever, having teed it up when she was 13 in her first LPGA appearance. This week marks her 71st LPGA event. She’s still just 20 and won’t turn 21 until October. If you’re wondering, below there’s a listing of how Wie’s one victory compares with a sampling of the victory totals of other LPGA stars before their 21st birthdays.

It should be noted that while Nancy Lopez didn’t have a victory before her 21st birthday, she didn’t begin her rookie season until a few weeks after turning 21. She went on to win nine times in her rookie year after playing just six LPGA events as a 20-year-old.

This listing only includes players who turned pro before they were 21.
