Wie tied for ninth in windy, trying conditions at the Shoprite LPGA Classic last weekend. She’s looking to make a run at making her third U.S. Solheim Cup team, and last weekend’s effort helped.
“Last week felt really good, definitely just keeping it together in really hard conditions felt good,” Wie said. “A top 10 is always good, first top 10 of the season. I’ll take it, better late than never.
“I had fun last week. It was fun being in contention. Teeing off in one of the last groups on Sunday, that was definitely a really good feeling, playing in front of the crowds, kind of feeling that adrenaline. It definitely was a great prep week for this week.”
Wie moved from 16th to 13th on the American Solheim Cup points list. The top eight at the conclusion of the Ricoh Women’s British Open make the team. There are double points in the offing this week. Wie will be paired with teen phenom Lydia Ko again this week. The pairing seemed to inspire Wie at the Kraft Nabisco earlier this year.
