KOHLER, Wis. – Michelle Wie couldn’t get her putter as warm as it was Friday at the U.S. Women’s Open.
With back-to-back three-putt bogeys to open her round Saturday, she struggled to a 6-over-par 78.
A shot off the lead at day’s start, Wie will begin Sunday 10 back. She is tied for 13th. She’ll need that putter working again to make a run. She took 33 putts Saturday, 10 more than she took on Sunday. She hit some nice iron shots close in the third round, but she struggled to convert. She made one birdie all day.
“I hit a couple of loose shots, and I felt like some of my putts should have gone in that didn't go,” Wie said. “So, hopefully I'll get them back tomorrow.”
