Michelle Wie says she has invited her pal Christina Kim to come visit her for a weekend when she returns to Stanford in the fall quarter.
Actually, Kim, 25, one of the LPGA's most colorful characters, was a good influence on Wie, 19, in their pairing Thursday in the first round of the McDonald's LPGA Championship. Wie opened with a 2-under-par 70, her best start in a major championship since the first round of the U.S. Women's Open three years ago. Kim also started well with 71. China's Shanshan Feng posted the low score in the group with a 67.
Though Wie took the spring off from Stanford to start her rookie season, she said graduating from there is a priority.
'It's definitely one of my biggest goals,' she said.
