Will Tiger crowd Sean Foleys stable

RSS

LEMONT, Ill. – With Tiger Woods sounding more like he’s moving toward a commitment to Sean Foley as his full-time swing coach, there’s got to be curiosity brewing among the other high-profile players in Foley’s stable.

How will coaching the No. 1 player in the world affect Foley’s devotion to Hunter Mahan, Sean O’Hair and Justin Rose? They’re all among the top 23 in the world rankings. Foley also works with Stephen Ames, who’s won more PGA Tour events (4) than Mahan (3), O’Hair (3) or Rose (2).

Do they really want Woods in their stable and sharing the magic that's working for them?

“Absolutely,” Mahan told GolfChannel.com after his pro-am round Wednesday at the BMW Championship.

Mahan said he relishes the idea of a meaningful connection to Woods. He’s already enjoyed the practice rounds he's played with Woods and O'Hair under Foley's watchful eye.

“It could mean more access to Tiger,” Mahan said. “If Tiger’s comfortable with it, we can pick his brain. I like the idea of being able to play more practice rounds with him.”

Mahan said he’s been assured Woods will not require an exclusive relationship with Foley.
