GULLANE, Scotland – It wasn’t much, but you could see that Adam Scott’s caddie, Steve Williams, said a little something extra to his former boss, Tiger Woods, after the final round of the British Open.
Scott and Woods were paired together in the day’s penultimate group and both had visions of standing with the claret jug by the end of the day. It didn’t go as planned as Scott shot 72 to tie for third place and Woods shot 74 to tie for sixth.
The two men have been paired together several times over the past two years, since Woods parted ways with Williams, so it’s not awkward anymore. Still, it was noticeable to see Williams take an extra moment with Woods.
“He was saying it was a good fight out there today,” Woods said.
If there was more to the conversation, Woods wasn’t going to divulge.
