Winds of change at Doral

DORAL, Fla. – One of the primary story lines this week at Doral, after the “return” and Phil Mickelson’s health, has centered on an ever-changing wind direction.

On Thursday and Friday a storm brought one direction, while Saturday saw an entirely new direction.

“That's south Florida. If it blows from the south tomorrow, we have got an unbelievably tough (18th) hole, again. If it blows out of the west like it has been today, it's a pretty easy hole,” co-leader Ernie Els said.

Sunday’s blow was from a slightly different direction, but still should make the demanding 18th something less than monstrous.

“It’s a little different. On 18 it’s more across (from right to left), than it is down (wind),” said James Edmondson, who caddies for Ryan Palmer who carded a closing-round 68. “It’s a totally different golf course (from Thursday and Friday). On 18 we hit driver-wedge.”
