Woods arrives at Augusta on Day 3 after penalty

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Tiger Woods walked onto the practice green at Augusta National Saturday at 12:20 p.m. ET – 1 hour, 20 minutes before his scheduled third-round tee time with Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano.

Woods was handed a two-stroke penalty for an improper drop Friday on the par-5 15th hole. There was much debate overnight about Woods’ situation and disqualification even seemed an option. But Augusta National officials believe the penalty under Rule 33-7 was the proper call.

Tiger responds on Twitter

“I understand and accept the penalty and respect the Committees’ decision,” Woods sent via his Twitter account.

On Saturday, Woods seems to be following the same warm-up routine as the day before. He began with putting on the practice green and will soon head to the practice tee to hit full shots. Woods is wearing gray pants, blue shirt and white belt, hat and shoes.

The penalty moved Woods from a seventh-place tie into a tie for 19th place, which is five shots behind leader Jason Day.
